One Room Challenge: Spring 2021 Week 2

Well we are officially into the 2nd week of the ORC. We didn’t get much progress done on the actual space but planning has been at the forefront of this week. They say if you fail to plan, you plan to fail. So… Today we are going to talk all about the details and making the plans come to life.

I first like to start planning out the color pallet of the space. I try to imagine what I want people to feel when they walk into the room. Will they feel serene, joyful, electric, or peaceful? In our case, we really want this room to invoke a feeling of serenity and peace. We are using the color pallet of a light blue green to with muted tones to give that feeling. We are coupling it with a mustard color with will really pop against the restful color. It will bring your eyes to those spaces and create moments of interest.

The paint colors we have chosen for this room are Sherwin Williams Sea Salt and Sherwin Williams Quietude.

We won’t be using paint to make those pops of mustard but using linens, throws and decor items to incorporate those.

Love these pops of mustard. This linen duvet is a must for our space

We are also using soft lines to create that serene feeling. We are creating soft arches for the windows and lots of rounded edge details. We are going to be extra intentional about creating soft lines and curves with all our DIY’s that will really mimic what we are doing in the rest of the house. We are also currently renovating our kitchen and living room space and using lots of soft lines that will be carried through to the bedroom as well.

We also really want to utilize every inch of this space. This is a small apartment and we want to make every space functional. So an office space and renaming the current closet space is in the forefront of changing the blueprint design of this room. We are ripping out the current closet which was much too big for the space and reorganizing the space to utilize every square inch.

This week we are working on finishing demo, patching and painting. Wish us luck as we try to get the “not fun” parts of renovation done. Be sure to check out all our friends who are also doing the One Room Challenge
