One Room Challenge: Spring Bedroom Makeover
It’s that time of year again. The time when a large group of designers commit to eight crazy weeks of ups and downs as we cheer each other on to the finish. We all navigate through scenarios of “what is behind that wall?” to “oh no, why is my paint color so wrong?” And you get a front row seat to all the things that go perfectly right and horribly wrong. Last year I cried over a broken lamp shade. True story. But we had a happy ending over here as our A-frame loft was one of our most special renovations to date. Plus the store overnighted me a new lamp shade and the reveal was saved.
Here is the reveal of our A-Frame loft space that was pretty dark, dirty and just not very nice. (see those before pics") Now it is such a bright and lovely space with so many custom details like the geometric ceiling for the loft, the mind-blowing shelf staircase and the fun upper loft that is perfect for sleeping. There were some blood, sweat and yep.. tears over this transformation. We literally did everything ourselves.. including hand sanding the walls. All worth it for this gorgeous “after”
Now, for the spring 2021 edition, we are excited to announce that we will be making over a small (but mighty) bedroom in a one bedroom City apartment overlooking the park. We will be designing this space for short term rentals in the future so we are anticipating the needs of a small family with a child, romantic escape for a couple or a single guest business trip. Our biggest goal is to create such a oasis that they don’t want to leave to go back to reality.
Ok.. lets get moody.. Here is our mood board so that you can get an idea of the vibe we are going for.
Here is the “Before” pictures of this bedroom as a blank canvas.

Tomorrow starts demo day on the closet. We are completely tearing out the closet and the awkward nook next to it. We will be turning this space into a smaller closet that is organized much more efficiantly and creating an office space that doubles as a twin murphy bed. Now you see it, now you don’t. This week we will be working towards refinishing the flooring and soundproofing under the new hardwood floors. Stay tuned for all that we get accomplished this week. Here’s to hoping that we get done all we set out to do. Be sure to check out the other designers and see what they are up to this week.
